Matyáš Fendrych's laboratory is based in Prague, Czech Republic. The lab focuses on understanding the molecular and physiological mechanisms that control the growth of plant organs and cells. At the center of our attention lies the fascinating interface between the cell and its wall, which is crucial for the perception and regulation of cell wall properties. We are also interested in the mechanisms of regulation and coordination of growth at the supra-cellular level during organ development and differentiation. Our model system is Arabidopsis thaliana, where we use molecular biology methods in combination with advanced live-cell imaging, genetically encoded fluorescent sensors, specialized vertical microscopy and microfluidic techniques.
